RX-666/888

Features

Based on a the BBRF103 design by Oscar Steila, IK1XPV - read more on his blog here. This is a 16-bit, direct sampling receiver with excellent dynamic range. This design will surely be adopted for many future low-cost, high-performance consumer SDRs.

USB

This SDR uses a lot of current, if your USB controller cannot supply this then you will experience stutter and possibly crashes. You must use a good USB controller! USB advice is here.

Hardware

A full description is here.

Software

Requires SDR Console v3.0.25. The interface software is based on Oscar's original code design and completely rewritten, the code on Github is not used.

Driver

The RX-666 uses the Cypress FX3, a driver is required from Cypress.com.

CPU Load

When using a bandwidth of 8 MHz or higher you will probably see the CPU load increase unless you are using a graphics card (GPU) for the FFT processing. More information is here.

If Cypress FX3 then drivers are already installed. If WestBrige then you must install the Cypress FX3 driver:

  1. Right-click on WestBridge
  2. Select Update driver
  3. Select Browse my computer for driver software
  4. Select the folder with the drivers which correspond to your operating system, Windows 10 drivers 1.2.3.20 are available on the Cypress website and below.
